Dwyane Wade and Derrick Rose
What if the Chicago Bulls starting backcourt for their 2010 NBA season opener featured Derrick Rose at the point and Dwyane Wade at the two guard? This could possibly be a reality very soon because D Wade is a free agent after the season and the Bulls will have some cap space to work with if all goes well. This could perhaps be the most dynamic backcourt combo since Walt Frazier and Earl Monroe. Walt and Earl were known as the “Rolls Royce Backcourt”, Rose and Wade will be known as the “1969 ZL1 Camaro Backcourt”. Like the 1969 ZL1 Camaro, both Rose and Wade have the great combination of speed and power. The 1969 ZL1 Camaro featured 500 horses under the hood and could go from 0-60 in about 5.3 seconds. That’s what I call American muscle. Forget about the glitzy and glamorous finesse game, Rose and Wade will present smash mouth basketball like never before.

Derrick Rose blowing past Rajon Rondo
At 6′-3″ and 190 pounds, Derrick Rose already presents matchup problems. He’s fast like a flicker of lightning and he’s as strong as an ox. He has amazing handles and can get to the bucket at will. Defenders bounce off of him after contact is made. He is already a decent but not great defender as well. He’s unselfish and he is a good leader. He still needs to work on his perimeter shooting but that will come with time. These attributes make him a more than capable floor general.

D Wade showing his leaping ability
Speaking of generals, D Wade is the ultimate soldier. He has mastered the art of warfare on land as well as in the air. At 6′-4″ and 220 pounds he is a tank but has torpedo like speed. The nickname “Flash” suites him well. Wade can go around you, over you, or flat out straight through you. He blows by defenders like a violent wind and he launches himself at defenders like a missile when he attacks the rim. He embraces contact and he dishes out just as much punishment as he takes. He can score with the best of them and he is unselfish as well.
Now picture both of these guys playing together. Both are native Chicagoans, both are fierce competitors, and both have great strength, speed, and athelitic ability. Pick your poison, you can’t stop them both. Personally, I would give Rose the jump shot until he can knock it down consistently but D Wade is an entirely different animal. You can’t give Wade anything and even if you don’t give Wade anything, he still takes it. If Rose and Wade end up playing together, the Bulls would just be a big man away from multiple championships.
I love this game!
