Should Will Bynum be the Detroit Piston's starting point guard?

After watching all of the Detroit Piston’s games so far, I’ve come to the conclusion that the Pistons seem to play very smooth with the ball in Will Bynum’s hands.  At six feet and 185 pounds, Bynum seems to control the game very well when he is at the point.  He realizes when to attack and when to get his team involved.  He attacks the basket very hard and he has demonstrated the ability to hit 15 to 18 footers.  The game seems to come naturally to him.  He rarely forces up bad shots and he plays decent D.  But, should he start over Rodney Stuckey at point guard?

Don’t get me wrong, I like Stuckey.  I just don’t think that he is, or ever will be a point guard.  I think that Stuckey’s skill set is better suited for the two guard position.  At 6-5 and 205 pounds, he will have the advantage of size and strength over most points guards in the league on most nights.  The things that bothers me about Stuckey’s game is the fact that he doesn’t play good defense, he’s not a play maker, and he seems to force his shots.  His main objective is to attack the basket, but his offensive awareness needs to improve.  He gets his shot blocked often and misses a lot of layups.  On a more positive note, his jump shot has improved, a little.  Stuckey is currently starting at point guard for the Detroit Pistons.  The question is, should he be?

Should Rodney Stuckey remain as the Detroit Pistons starting point guard?

Rodney Stuckey, the Detroit Piston's starting point guard?

Statically, as far as scoring, rebounds and assist go, Stuckey has better averages.  Stuckey is averaging 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4 assist per game.  His shooting percentage is awful.  In 37.3 minutes a game he’s shooting just 35.9% from the field, an abysmal 25% from three, and 78.3% from the free throw line.  Bynum is averaging 11.5 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assist per game all in 24 minutes a game.  Bynum’s field goal percentage (38.6%)  isn’t much better than Stuckey’s, but he’s converting at a significantly higher rate from the free throw line (92.3%).  Based on this, if Bynum was playing 37.3 minutes a game vs. the 24 minutes a game that he currently plays, he would be more efficient than Stuckey.  Thus, I’m proposing that Bynum starts at point guard, while Stuckey starts at shooting guard.  I like Rip, but he’s getting older and should not be considered a long term player on a re-building team.  Rip should be traded (Trade Tayshaun as well while your at it, if possible) for a center (Bring Chris Kaman back to Michigan) to balance the team.
