Tracy McGrady is eager to return.
Tracy McGrady (T-Mac) has expressed interest in returning to the court. The Houston Rockets’ star shooting guard /small forward is rehabbing from microfracture knee surgery and practiced with the team on Monday. T-Mac thinks he is ready to play but his coach Rick Adelman has other thoughts. There is a conflict of opinion between McGrady and Houston’s coaching staff and management. McGrady expressed the following:
“I’m ready to play basketball, everybody is making a big deal because I say I’m ready and GM and my coach say I’m not ready. Everybody wants to make a big deal that I’m this diva … It’s crazy.”

T-Mac shooting the jumper.
According to www.drugs.com Knee microfracture surgery is a common procedure used to repair damaged knee cartilage. Cartilage is the material that helps cushion the area where bones meet in the joints. This procedure is common among NBA players. The procedure for this surgery involves a surgeon making a 1/4-inch-long incision (cut) on your knee. Then the surgeon will insert a long, thin device called an arthroscope through this incision. The arthroscope is like a camera. It is attached a video monitor in the operating room. It allows the surgeon to look inside your knee and work directly on the joint area.
The surgeon uses a small pointed tool called an awl to make very small holes called microfractures (tiny breaks) in the bone near the damaged cartilage. The holes the surgeon makes in your bone release the cells in your bones that build new cartilage. Your body then builds new cartilage to replace the damaged cartilage. The best case scenario for a full recovery is 4-6 months minimum before running or doing any impact type activities.

This is the T-Mac that I want to see.
I’m a Tracy McGrady fan, but I’m going to have to agree with Rick Adelman and Houston’s management team. Do not let McGrady play yet. Just hang tight and make sure he heals completely. I don’t fault T-Mac at all. He’s a competitor, he wants to play and he believes he is ready. But he needs to think long term here. McGrady has an injury plagued history, the last thing he needs is to come back too soon and risk his career. T-Mac, just relax and get better.
So far, without T-Mac, the Houston Rockets are 8-6. There is no doubt that McGrady makes Houston (The Rockets are also without Yao Ming who is injured as well) a better team, but right now, Houston has developed a chemistry. Bringing back McGrady will definitely upset Houston’s chemistry for a while, but in the long run, the team is better with McGrady than without McGrady.
Tracy McGrady has career averages of 22.1 points per game, 4.7 assists per game, and 6.1 rebounds a game.
I can’t wait to see T-Mac return to form.
